Introducing Policies: Discover a new way to understand your business automation with Loop

Last updated: July 1, 2025

What is Policies?

Policies is a new initiative from Loop to simplify your business requirements and outcomes, showing exactly how Loop is enforcing your organization's billing and compliance standards across every shipment and invoice. Your organization will now have a set of clearly defined and customizable requirements that will be applied across all transportation spend throughout your network.

In this article, you'll find an overview of what to expect, and you can read more about how policies impacts analytics and exceptions by visiting these articles:

What will Policies change in Loop?

  • New Policies page lists all actively configured business rules

How can I see if my shipments are compliant with my policies?

Each shipment and invoice will have a policy compliance indicator at the top of the page that will show one of three values:

  • All policy requirements passed if the shipment or invoice is fully compliant with your policies

  • Processing policy requirements if the policies are still being processed

  • Policy requirement failed if the shipment or invoice is not compliant with at least one policy.

Clicking on this indicator will open a side panel that shows the current status of all policies that are being evaluated on the shipment or invoice.

In the shipments and invoice tables, along with any custom views that you create, you can filter to only show entities that have a specific policy compliance status.

Can I change my policies?

Most policies can be edited if needed! While all of your previously configured logic has been translated into policies, Loop can update the specifics of your policies and the impact that any failures will have. Reach out to your customer success manager to inquire about updating your policies. Note that we do not expect a need to change Policies often, especially after onboarding.

Are there any available analytics that report on policy compliance?

Yes! If you are a shipper, you will see compliance percentages for each requirement and a brand-new home page called the Control Tower, where you can see an at-a-glance view of your spend and compliance. If you are a 3PL, please reach out to your customer success manager if you have specific reporting asks around policy compliance.
