Loop Intelligence Data Dictionary: Metrics

Summary: Definitions for the standard metrics in Loop Intelligence. Each metric is defined once and calculated the same way in every report. For field definitions, see Loop Intelligence Data Dictionary: Fields.
Rules that apply to all metrics
Spend uses Terminal Amount. Spend metrics add up each charge at its current payment stage, converted to your reporting currency.
Shipments are freight movements only. Shipment Count includes Transportation services and excludes Parcel Service Fees. Use Service Count to include all vendor activity.
No double counting. When a charge is split across several cost codes, counts and totals for weight, distance, packages, and transit time use one row per charge.
Your units. Weight and distance metrics use the units you choose in the report.
Per-unit metrics use only rows with data. For example, Cost Per Weight uses only charges with a billed weight, and Cost Per Distance uses only shipments with a distance.
Rounding. Cost per shipment, package, and distance round to 2 decimals; cost per weight to 3; averages of weight, distance, zone, and transit time to 1.
Spend

IMEX Amount | Import/export vendor fees such as customs brokerage. Excludes government duties, taxes, and VAT |
Duty Tax Amount | Government duties, taxes, and VAT on international shipments |
Other Amount | Charges that don't fit the categories above |
Shipments and services

To see the average cost across all vendor activity, divide Total Terminal Amount by Service Count. The result is lower than Cost Per Shipment because it includes non-movement services.

Only shipments with a valid US domestic zone (2-8) are included.

Distance

Transit time
Transit time counts days from Pickup Date to Delivery Date. Only shipments with a delivery date after the pickup date are included.

Reconciliation
Use these to tie Loop's numbers back to your invoices or another system. Amounts stay in the currency each invoice was billed in, so group or filter by Currency Code before comparing totals.
